After briefly disbanding in 2017 to pursue solo projects, Canadian folk-pop trio Shaye recently reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its formation with a creative new cover of Charlotte Cornfield’s "Silver Civic".
The reimagined track showcases the supergroup’s signature combination of angelic vocals and haunting harmonies, which are then elevated with the backing of downtempo melodies and soft instrumentation.
We recently had a chance to chat with one third of Shaye, singer-songwriter Damhnait Doyle who, despite having a full schedule at her new gig as a CBC Music Radio Host, took some time to dish on some of her favourite food and drink spots in her current home base of Toronto.
Breakfast
The Ace on Roncesvalles. My husband used to own it—and the new owner is so lovely and a wonderful chef. I get the eggs with avocado and smashed potatoes... yummy.
Lunch
Mother India Roti for a Chicken Tikka Masala Roti. Medium spice but don’t go hot unless you wanna not feel your tongue for a week!
Dinner
My go-to for decades. Terroni on Queen Street. I’d get a Funghi salad and the Canna Mare pasta. I’ll miss the cheese but I don’t know the Terroni rules.
