After honing his musical prowess as a songwriter and producer for a local New York blues band, Toronto-based musician Jesse Maxwell returned home in 2020 and took the Canadian music scene by storm.
In just three short years, Maxwell’s unique blend of pop, alternative, and R&B has accumulated more than 700,000 streams on Spotify alone, while his ever-growing catalogue has continued to be musical mainstays on radios across Canada and beyond.
Since releasing his first single of 2022 roughly one month ago, the talented Toronto-based singer has once again begun to stir up significant buzz from critics and fans alike. Combining his signature story-driven lyrics and modern effervescent vocals, “nosedive” focuses on the singer’s personal path to sobriety, while using what feels like prohibition-era ambiance to transport listeners into his journey.
We recently had the opportunity to chat with the multi-talented musician, who took some time to dish on his favourite food and drink spots in Toronto.
Breakfast
Flo’s Diner in Yorkville will never let you down.
Lunch
If you’re around the St. Clair West area, check out The Rushton. Quaint but unforgettable with a beautiful patio and great ambience.
Dinner
Seoul Shakers, the sister restaurant of OddSeoul, is so incredible. My friend took me there a couple years ago for the first time. A delicious Korean-fusion snack bar with the backdrop of 90’s hip-hop on the speakers, best combination.
Drinks
First And Last is the cutest coffee shop near Bathurst and Dupont, with a little vintage market in the front, rich coffee and even better croissants.
