One Day in Manitoba: country-roots artist Nelson Little

The talented Métis musician's favourite food and drink spots in Thompson, MB

After following up his debut album with two critically-acclaimed singles in 2020 and 2021, Manitoba-based country-roots singer Nelson Little returned in 2022 with an inspiring and encouraging new track about living through the pandemic and learning to pick our battles wisely.

Like previous works from the three-time Manitoba Country Music Association Award-nominee and Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award-winner, Little’s "High Road" draws on his own personal experiences and emotions to create a relatable story that speaks directly to listeners.

As a lifelong resident of Thompson, Manitoba, the talented Métis musician has become well-acquainted with his local food and beverage scene, so we couldn’t think of a better person to ask for a few restaurant recommendations.

Breakfast

Lita’s Station. The restaurant is filled with “everything trains!” All sorts of electric and model train sets are the main decor, food is great and it’s fun to eat here.

Lunch

Jimmy’s Restaurant. The “Jimmy's special” is one of those magic ingredients, homemade burgers that compete with any large city “fat boy” or homemade fries/burger joints. There’s not many around but Jimmy’s is easily one of the best!

Dinner

Drinks

Mr. Mikes. Although this family restaurant and lounge is known for great meals, it also has a great patio and the right vibe to stop by for a couple! Always a great time at Mr. Mikes, especially on Live at the Lodge Thursday’s with Live Entertainment.
