This week, Richmond, B.C.’s Versante Hotel unveiled a collection of interesting and indulgent ways to celebrate both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day with festive food and drink.
For Lunar New Year, the hotel’s marquee restaurant, Bruno, is offering up an elaborate family-style feast featuring offerings like wagyu steak Oscar, lavender truffle duck, whole roasted seabream, lamb chops, truffle smashed and fried potatoes, and a saffron shellfish tagliatelle. Guests will also have the option to pair their dining experience with a overnight stay package that includes a dining credit, complimentary parking, and a selection of house-made macarons.
Meanwhile, at Cask Whisky Vault, diners will have a chance to take part in a Cantonese-style Prosperity Salad toss, during which the table will be invited to stand and ceremoniously toss the salad ingredients (kombu-cured ora king salmon, green tea soba, shredded vegetables, shiso, pomelo, yuzu umeboshi) with their chopsticks while chanting wishes outloud.
If you’re looking to get a headstart on Valentine’s Day planning, Versante is also providing guests with a Date Night Out package that comes complete with an overnight stay, parking, and a $100 dining credit at Bruno where they'll be able to enjoy a shareable four-course spread that features fresh oysters and caviar, chilled shellfish, truffle king crab filet mignon Oscar, smoked wild sablefish, and more.
Cask will also be doing a multi-course Valentine’s dinner that begins with a sashimi platter alongside kusshi oysters, followed by lobster motoyaki, wagyu steak, and truffle potato pave, with a sweet trifecta of Japanese chocolate cheesecake, condensed milk ice cream, and yuzu marshmallow to finish.
Reservations for each of Versante Hotel’s spring celebration offerings can be made online.
