Whistler’s 26th annual Cornucopia festival is now just a few days away, but with more than 80 amazing events to check out in just over three weeks, it can be a bit daunting to determine which events you want to attend.
That’s where we come in!
To make the decision process a little easier, we’ve taken some time to comb through the flurry of fantastic food- and drink-related opportunities over the month of November. Here are just a few of the events we’re looking forward to at this year's Cornucopia festival.
Signature Events
Signature Events tend to be the biggest draw for Cornucopia event-goers, so first and foremost, the festival’s flagship CRUSH Grand Tasting should be on everyone's radar. This year’s rendition will bring together 70 wineries from B.C. and beyond with some 300 wines to sample, along with guest chef and restaurant food stations, live music, and more.
Another incredibly intriguing Signature Event we’d recommend checking out is the Fall Feast at Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, which features a guided tour of the museum followed by an Indigenous-inspired multi-course dinner.
Finally, making a return after a two-year hiatus is the festival’s much-loved Oyster Invitational and Bloody Caesar Battle at Bearfoot Bistro World, which takes place on the same day as returning festival favourite Drag Me To Brunch.
Food and drink seminars
The festival will also offer more than 40 unique drink seminars featuring wine, spirits, beer, and more. Some of this year’s most anticipated seminars include Charcuterie and Wine: A Celebration of the Artisanal; Capturing Time in a Bottle: Three Decades of Masi Amarone Wines; and The Life of a Barrel of Whisky.
Culinary Stage
It wouldn’t be a Cornucopia festival without a wide array of exciting Culinary Stage demos to watch and enjoy. Event-goers can look forward to several fun chef-guided events, including the Maas of Asian Flavours with chef Alana Mass, The art of Lebanese food with Jamjar Canteen founder Fadi Eid, and Welcome to the Hangover Brunch with chef Julian Bond.
Restaurant and bar events
There are several appealing off-site restaurant events, but some of the ones that we expect to sell out quickly (assuming they haven’t already by the time you’re reading this) are the Farmer’s Dinner at Legs Diamond, the Cocktail and Dessert Pairing at Bearfoot Bistro (pictured above), and the Blasted Church and Vanessa Vineyard Wine Maker’s Dinner at Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
