Canadians in search of fresh culinary content will now have something new to look forward to in the coming weeks following CBC’s recent announcement revealing both the premiere date and the list of competitors for its new season of The Great Canadian Baking Show.
Much like previous seasons, this year’s format will feature 10 amateur bakers from across the country squaring off in a series of fan favourite challenges, such as the Signature Bake, the Technical Bake, and the Show Stopper. Each bake is tested and critiqued by esteemed pastry chefs like Bruno Feldeisen and Kyla Kennaley, and after eight weeks of competition, the last chef standing is crowned Canada’s best amateur baker.
Competing on Canada’s premier home-baking competition has always been in high demand, but thanks to the significant surge of home baking brought on by the pandemic, this year’s competition resulted in a record-breaking number of applications.
As previously announced, Season 4 of The Great Canadian Baking Show will also see Second City alumni Alan Shane Lewis and Ann Pornel join the fray as in-tandem hosts, following a line of famed forerunners like Dan Levy, Julia Chan, Aurora Browne, and Carolyn Taylor.
The new season of The Great Canadian Baking Show premieres on February 14 on CBC TV and CBC Gem. The full list of competitors and profiles can be found online.
