CBC has just announced some details about The Great Canadian Baking Show's fourth season, which is currently in production in the Toronto area.
Firstly, the series will see two familiar Torontonians, Alan Shane Lewis and Ann Pornel, joining the show as in-tandem hosts. Lewis and Pornel–who have replaced Aurora Browne and Carolyn Taylor, of Baroness Von Sketch Show (season 3) who previously replaced the show's original hosts Dan Levy and Julia Chan (seasons 1 and 2)–are alumni of the famed Second City comedy troupe as well as actors and comedic writers in their own right and will likely bring plenty of upbeat energy to the GCBS tent where the home baker competition takes place.
“This is an absolute dream come true,” said Lewis. “Being able to actually be in the tent, peek behind the curtain and further confirm the skill gap between those amazing bakers and myself. Really puts things into perspective.”
“I’m unbelievably excited to join Bruno, Kyla, Alan and the fantastic bakers in the tent this season,” said Pornel. “I hope that this experience will help me learn how to be a better baker, and by that, I really mean learn how to bake. What a treat!”
In addition to the announcement of the two new hosts, CBC also confirmed that the season premiere will happen some time during winter 2021. Like other CBC programs, The Great Canadian Baking Show will be both broadcast on CBC TV and streamed via CBC Gem.
The first few seasons of the Canadian adaptation of The Great British Bake Off has proven popular with Canadians and its most recent season averaged 1.2 million viewers each week on CBC TV. With a wide range of wholesome Canadian home bakers taking part in the competition each year, it's one culinary competition series that a person can't help but love.
