If you ask me, it took me way too long for Calgary to have a proper Halloween-inspired cocktail popup.
Somewhat akin to the Sippin' Santa and Miracle on 1st Street concepts that the city has embraced over the years, the Nightmare Before Christmas popup has taken over Ricardo's Hideaway until Sunday, Nov. 3. The playfully thematic event sees a menu chock full of fun drinks like the Vampire's Chalice (pictured at top of article and made with Benedictine, gin, Campari, cranberry, pomegrante juice, lime, and cranberry syrup), the bourbon-and-black-tea-based Smoke and Hellfire, a Pumpkin Spice Shaft (yes please!), and much more.
While Ricardo's may be transformed, it's popular late night happy hour—which happens 9 p.m. to close, Thursdays to Sundays—remains active. Who doesn't love a deal on a well-crafted beyvy?
The Nightmare Before Christmas popup will reach peak party on Saturday, Nov. 2 with a Halloween dance party happening both at Ricardo’s and its next-door neighbour National on 17th.
