If having a few sips of wine intermittently while wearing a costume and completing an 18-km jog through the Oliver Osoyoos wine country sounds like a great time to you, then you'll want to start planning a trip around the 11th annual Half Corked Marathon.
The marathon--which has become so popular that it needs to hold an annual draw for the opportunity to purchase tickets--has also spawned other culinary events annually, including Dinner in the Park, an outdoor winemaker's dinner, as well as a long table dinner by the ever-popular Joy Road Catering, the Recovery BBQ at Road 13 Estate Vineyards, Tinhorn Creek's Concert Series, and more.
"Following the huge success of our 10th anniversary race last year, we already have plans to make 2019's race even better," said Jennifer Busmann, executive director of the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, founders of the event. "Together with our winemakers and chefs, we love showcasing our incredible region to our Half Corked Marathon guests; it's a fantastic way to kick start the summer in Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country."
The Half Corked Marathon ticket lottery opens the morning of November 1 and closes at 11:59 p.m. (PDT) on November 8. Following that, selected entrants are contacted and will be able to purchase a maximum of two tickets each.
