When Ben Chase’s debut single "All Over It" reached the top of the Canadian iTunes country chart in 2018 within 24 hours of its release, perhaps the only person it took by surprise was Chase himself.  

Since performing on stage with his grandfather Alphy Perry at the age of five, Chase seemed destined for stardom. Perry, who is still well known in the P.E.I. music scene, passed down everything he knew to his prodigious grandson, from playing guitar to writing music, to capturing a crowd. And Chase caught on quickly. By the time Chase was in his teens he had already established himself as someone to watch in the online music community. 

After packing his bags and heading to Calgary at the age of 19, Chase’s stock has continued to rise. The talented artist began entertaining country fans throughout Alberta, and by the following year he had accrued a portfolio of performances that included showings at Big Valley Jamboree and Country Thunder Calgary, a residency as Ranchman’s Calgary Stampede Act, and a 2017 ACMA Male Artist of the Year nominee.

On the heels of a stunning display of musical ability and showmanship at the 2019 Cavendish Beach Music Festival in his hometown of P.E.I., Chase is now getting ready to play in the Project Wild country artist development program’s Showcase Series at Knoxville's Tavern in Calgary. If Chase is selected among the top three, he will be guaranteed a share of the $225,000 prize pool, which will undoubtedly aid him in completing his debut EP.

Since coming to Calgary, Chase has grown fond of the city’s emerging culinary scene. We recently sat down with the Project Wild finalist to get the inside scoop on some of his favourite destinations.
