Although pandemic-related restrictions have posed a plethora of problems for many of the country’s food and beverage festivals this year, it has also given Canadians a chance to witness firsthand the adaptability, creativity, and passion of our incredible culinary community.
Today, Ocean Wise announced a new format for its annual Chowder Chowdow, turning it into a national festival, which will allow the sustainable seafood association to continue its important work protecting our oceans and marine ecosystems.
Formerly an in-person competition that took place on location in various Canadian cities such as Calgary and Vancouver, the new month-long National Chowder Chowdown Festival will see an array of Ocean Wise-partnered restaurants, retailers, and venues from across the country create delicious and sustainable seafood chowders, with partial proceeds being allocated to Ocean Wise’s not-for-profit seafood program.
Applications to participate in Ocean Wise’s National Chowder Chowdown Festival can be sent via email to seafood@ocean.org and the full list of participating establishments will be revealed in January 2021. Restaurants and retailers who are not currently partnered with Ocean Wise can sign up online.
