After announcing back in May that a new Toronto edition of the Michelin Guide was en route to Canada for the first time, Michelin and Destination Vancouver announced today that a second Canadian edition will soon be coming to Vancouver.
The first Michelin Guide Vancouver selection will be revealed this coming fall, with anonymous inspectors of the Guide already making their way through the city’s vast culinary scene. Like other Michelin selections, Vancouver restaurants and bars will be judged based on five criteria: quality of products, harmony of flavours, master of cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in the cuisine, and consistency between each visit.
The MICHELIN Guide is touching down in Vancouver this fall! Hot on the heels of Toronto, we're expanding to Vancouver. Stay tuned to see who's joining the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Vancouver. #veryvancouver #MichelinGuideVancouver @MyVancouverhttps://t.co/d0vlyCOOn8 pic.twitter.com/NMjczbEnbm

“We’re thrilled to bring the Michelin Guide to Canada’s West Coast and shine a spotlight on all that Vancouver has to offer,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides. “Vancouver is celebrated by international travelers for its artistic vibe and multifaceted identity—from impressive buildings to outdoor spaces—and we’re pleased to focus on its very promising culinary potential.”
After usurping Toronto and Montreal’s longstanding reign over Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list when Published On Main captured the top spot this summer, it feels fitting that Michelin will now have a Western Canadian counterpart in Vancouver.
