Over a decade since its inception as a food truck in the surfside town of Tofino, beloved Vancouver eatery Tacofino has now stretched its arms throughout the province of British Columbia. The latest addition, a 1,985 square-foot space in the heart of Kitsilano, is set to join the impressive fleet of food trucks and brick-and-mortar locations early this fall. 

The new counter-service location, previously occupied by Szechun Restaurant, will feature dine-in and take-out options from a menu of Tacofino’s iconic Baja-inspired tacos and burritos, as well as new items like Maui pork pastor, child cheese taquitos, and a new rice mix with lime, all developed by co-founder Jay Sussman along with Michelin-starred and Iron Chef Canada competitor Stefan Hartmann. 

“We’ve always been asked when we’re going to finally introduce Tacofino to the West Side of Vancouver,” says Sussman, “so we’re grateful to be able to become a part of the Kits community this fall.”

The Tacofino team has again joined forces with designer Shiloh Sukkau, who previously helped fashion Gastown’s Taco Bar, Yaletown’s Burrito Bar, Downtown’s Oasis, and Mount Pleasant’s Ocho.

More details regarding Tacofino’s newest addition will be revealed in the coming weeks, but Tacofino has confirmed that the 38-seat eatery is set to open sometime this month.
