After a North America-wide search, 10 home bakers have earned their proverbial golden tickets to compete in Food Network Canada’s newest chocolate-based competition series. Set to debut February 4, the Great Chocolate Showdown will put competitors to the test in a series of chocolaty challenges to tantalize the taste buds of esteemed judges Anna Olson, Cynthia Stroud, and Steven Hodge.
Canadian competitors make up half the inaugural cast vying for the $50,000 grand prize, representing their respective home bases of Vancouver, B.C.; Olds, AB; Saskatoon, SK; Aurora, ON; and Montreal, QC.
Each week, the bakers will face a new set of challenges, from creating an out-of-this-world chocolate creation with a galactic mirror finish and baking an over-the-top spectacle cake, to reimagining a classic campfire treat and creating a chocolate confection with a spicy kick.
Throughout the competition, the Great Chocolate Showdown pantry will be packed to the brim with an array of Purdys Chocolatier products. The series’ official sponsor will also pop up from time to time in Purdys-themed challenges, in which the competitors will put Purdys most popular items to use in hopes of avoiding elimination.
The Great Chocolate Showdown will debut on Food Network Canada on February 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
